…They’ve all been named “America’s Hottest Brands of 2011” by Advertising Age magazine. Ad Age selected 25 brands for this honor, and we’re humbly thrilled to be recognized. What makes a brand ‘hot’?
First and foremost: YOU do. That’s right, you savvy shoppers; we share this honor with you and appreciate your support in helping us get here. Before we were on Ad Age’s radar, you recognized what they’ve recently taken note of: You’ve discovered that our cereals are so tasty. You’ve been our fans despite the fact that you don’t get to see us on TV alongside those big brands with their fancy ad budgets. Instead you interact with us on online, you’re our fans on Facebook, you appreciate our everyday lower prices, and you like our sleek style (you know, the bag with no box…green is the new black, after all).
How did we get here? “To be successful, we know we have to do things very differently” said Paul Reppenhagen (he’s our director of awesome-ness). “What Malt-O-Meal doesn’t spend on advertising, we pass on to the consumer, resulting in everyday prices that are substantially lower than other advertised brands. Our non-traditional marketing approach has saved American families more than $1 billion on breakfast cereal over the last six years, and that is something we are extremely proud of.”
